Why is Mobility so important in the Golf Swing?

At DRVN, we are here to inspire health and fitness through Golf is all about improving performance on the course, but even more so, ensuring longevity, happiness and fulfilment off it.

What is Mobility?


'The ability to move or be moved freely and easily.’


All golfers talk of wanting to be more flexible to improve their golf fitness but flexibility is only a part of the puzzle. Mobility is what they really want. 





There are 3 key areas that comprise an individuals Mobility:


1: Flexibility - this is the fundamental ability to stretch a muscle through it’s end range of motion.


How a muscle lengthens and contracts is the basis of all movement, so increasing Flexibility through range of motion is huge for performance and injury prevention.


2: Movement Capacity - taking that fundamental Flexibility and creating accurate movements based on a desired task.


Flexibility is ineffective if an individual cannot then control and master required movement patterns for physical or skill based challenges.





3: Awareness & Proprioception - this is the mind-body connection that initiates every movement we produce.


Individuals will have huge variation in this area and this will often be clear to see so improvements here are incredibly impactful.


When you work on these 3 elements, you will make progress in your golf swing, you will improve your health and fitness overall and it will benefit your everyday life in a myriad of ways.


The cool thing, 10 minutes a day will have a huge impact!
